Keep Your Dog Safe on the 4th of July

Happy 4th of July! We know our dogs’ least favorite part of the celebrations are all those noisy fireworks!
Here are some tips to help them manage and keep them safe.

Keep them Inside

@crag_dog_sophie

Don’t bring dogs to fireworks displays or outdoor events in unfamiliar settings where they’re likely to get spooked and run away when they hear fireworks or other loud noises.

Use background noise

Try to drown out the sound with fans, air conditioners, white noise machines, the TV or radio.

Distract them

Try using a dog enrichment puzzle filled with high value treats to distract them from what’s going on outside.

Tire them out

@noodsterscootster

Go for a long walk, play with them and get them nice and tired before the end of the day. Make sure you’re keeping them cool and not walking them in too much heat though!

Be prepared for the worst

Dogs go missing the most around the 4th of July. Using these tips will help prevent your dog from bolting, but it’s always best to be prepared. Make sure your dog is wearing a well-fitted collar with ID tags, and is micro-chipped.

Chill Them Out With Treats
